Few days ago, i went to my grand parents. They wanted me to help them go shop a new phone. When i arrived my grand parents were already nicely dress and ready to hit the road for a new phone. Surprised! i told them " grand pa we are not going out, we will do it right here at home". what? do we have a phone shop in this house that i don't know about? He replied; I laughed and said: no grand pa! we will buy it online.
Grand pa so surprised said: what?again! that is where i took out my laptop and switched it on. I said: grand pa this is how we do it today. you don't need to go out, walk for hours in search of a phone while we can just do it right here at home and the best part is they will deliver the phone to you.
Grand pa surprised said: Apparently i am really old, looking at my grand mother. Things have changed a lot said grand pa.
I started explaining to grand pa unlike the traditional way of buying things meaning going to retailers, online purchase gives you a different way. Shopping online can be fun if you know what you are doing and stressful for some people. It is fun when searching for products, because it allow you to choose from a wide range of products, compare prices, read reviews about the products ,it save you some time and convenient because you do it in the comfort of your home or office or....
It can also be stressful when you don't know what you are doing. Some people may find it hard to scroll all the items in search of the perfect one for them.Or some may find it hard to read all the reviews and some are just pessimistic. Some people do not want to wait for days just to realize that there was a problem with order.
Grand pa asked; what about quality?
I said unlike the traditional way where you can touch the actual product and experienced it first hand, online you just read at the reviews to see whether the site is reliable and of course if returns are authorized in case of any problems. In addition not all purchase are made online or can be made online for instance products with huge price tag, perishable products,...etc.
Grand pa asked again: what about payment?
Yes payment is sometimes an issue for most people i replied. For any payment online you need a credit card, paypal or any other form of secure payment that most of the people do not have.
The checkout process is also a burden at time where you uncover hidden fees.
Some companies are making it easier for those without any form of online payment to still enjoy best deals online by providing unique services.
